Tresor by lancome Perfume Review - A romantic treasure in a gorgeous bottle

11:23:00 AM 0 Comments

My sister used this fragrance in her 20's for over five years. On her, the fragrance was truly a treasure. Her skin can truly disguise fragrances such as Paloma Picasso, Dolce Vita, and Tresor in a way that you have to actually ask her what perfume she is wearing. On me, they are all a very sad love story. I have tried all three hoping to smell as delicious as she does when she use them, but I don't get even close to that romantic, almost like heaven, scent.

Based on how she actually smells, and not on how I smell, I have decided to review this fragrance. I love it...on her, and hate it...on me! Years after this hunting fragrance disappointment, I found my two signature fragrances when Hypnotic Poison and Coco Mademoiselle made their first appearance. I still use them as the very first day. Right now, I also try other fragrances like Chanel Chance, Flowerbomb, Guess by Marciano, and Tom Ford Neroli. I found myself also grabbing a bottle of Fan di Fendi EDP Spray.

Tresor perfume, created in 1990 by perfumer Sophia Grojsman for Lancome, has been around for a long time. It is one of the best selling perfumes in the world. The gorgeous bottle was designed by Charles Boussiquet. It is a feminine fragrance, a warm floral-oriental scent, a romantic one indeed with a little modern feel being rose its primary note, mixed with juicy peachy notes, musk, a hint of jasmine, and Vetiver.

With fine and elegant top mixed notes of apricot blossom, pineapple, lilac, peach, lily of the valley, bergamot, and rose; middle notes of iris, jasmine, heliotrope, and again rose and peach; and base notes of amber, sandalwood, musk, vanilla, peach, and apricot Tresor is a comforting fragrance that is hard to dislike. It is not a fragrance that I would fall in love with eternally like I have had with Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison, but it is a nice fragrance for warm days, and a few selected evenings. As I said before, I love it...and hate it! Is that acceptable for such a lovely fragrance? Ask my sister and she would say: No way, its perfect! It is a found treasure.

Maja Plum Blossom Perfume Review - Flor de Ciruelo - A Sensual, Lovely and Fresh Fragrance

4:57:00 PM 0 Comments

Born in 1918 in Spain, Maja is undoubtedly one of the most recognized Spanish perfume brands around the world. Maja has maintained its essence generation after generation in over 26 countries.

In 2014, Maja introduced its new fragrance: Maja Plum Blossom perfume, of oriental origin, which combines floral and fruit notes highlighting the beauty, strength and vitality of the plum blossom. Created for a younger audience, Maja Plum Blossom represents the sensual, dynamic, lovely and fresh woman.

As Armando Bonilla, director of Grisi products marketing, said: "Maja is a pioneering brand that is always in search of new sensations and is now showing a renewed and totally different, full of energy and with a new attitude side." Maja has been gradually leaving the serious image that has remained unchanged in the market for almost a hundred years. Maria Morales, Maja International Brand Manager, explained that this is a completely new and totally different fragrance. it separate itself from the original Maja Classic Fragrance. "It's a very fruity very fresh fragrance, aimed at young women"

Maja's fragrances are extracted from the most beautiful flowers, creating sensory experiences that emphasize femininity. This new Plum Blossom fragrance is not the exception. We can perceive notes of sweet vanilla and caramel as top notes, and then middle notes of jasmine and violet without forgetting the plum as an active ingredient, and base notes of blackberries and red fruits.

The new Maja Plum Blossom Collection includes:

• Scented Luxury Soaps in different versions (gift box set of three soaps, included in gift sets, and individual soaps): They provide a relaxing feeling while bathing, keeping the skin scented with the delicious smell of Plum Blossom, which is an antioxidant that adds shine and luminosity to the skin.

• Scented Body Lotion: Enriched with almond oil and vitamin E. Revitalizes the skin keeping it deeply hydrated throughout the day. Special for extra dry skin.

• Body Fragrance Mist: Its fresh aroma can be applied whenever you want to feel delicate and sexy at the same time.

The face of the new campaign is Giovanna Romo, a TV Azteca actress and model.

Bvlgari Mon jasmin Noir Perfume Review - A bright and addictive new floral fragrance

3:57:00 PM 0 Comments

Mon Jasmin Noir by Bvlgari was launched in Spring 2011 as the new version of Jasmin Noir Perfume. The noses behind this fragrance are Olivier Polge and Sophie Labbe.
In Bvlgari's own words "Mon Jasmin Noir is a new flower of pure mystery. A rich and delicate flower, interpreted in its most luminous expression. Mon Jasmin Noir captures the lively charm of a young and seductive woman. A woman that reveals, under an air of innocence concealing a mischievous personality, an intuitive sensuality. Bulgari introduces a new, sophisticated, luminous and sensual Eau de Parfum within the Jasmin Noir universe, reminiscent of the inimitable values of elegance and refinement at the heart of Bulgari brand."

This new Mon Jasmin Noir by Bvlgari is slightly lighter than Jasmin Noir. It is classified as a Floral Woody Musk fragrance with seductive top notes of Golden Cedrat, Lily of the Valley and citrus; Middle notes of Sambac Jasmine, "Angel Wing" Jasmine; base notes of Musk, Patchouli, Virginia Cedar and Nougat.

To me, this fragrance is more fruity than Jasmin Noir, and it does not get sweet until it dries down to the chic and lovely nougat.

The House of Creed, Creed Millesime Imperial Perfume

8:23:00 PM 0 Comments

The House of Creed is actually one of the few perfumeries that still create their fragrances in the same first-rate style as when they began in 1760. Creed fragrances are worldwide known as an historical fragrance dynasty. They offer the utmost quality of magnificence perfumes available in the market. Nowadays, in a growing and rapid industrial commercialism staying in the market takes more spirit than before. We find thousands of fragrances out there threw out with lesser quality due to this “faster way of living and creating.” James Henry Creed started The House of Creed in London practically 250 years ago and his tradition has stayed since then. For six generations The House of Creed has been creating luxurious, fascinating, and high-quality perfumes. Oliver Creed and his son Erwin were involved in the development of Creed’s Love in White and Virgin Island Water, fascinating fragrances to be honest. Most of their perfumes are well known worldwide and due to their high prices they are only accessible to affluent families. The house of Creed has become the leader European perfumer. Within their customers through history we find: King George III, Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie, Franz Joseph and Elizabeth of Austria-Hungary, and Queen Christina. What a list! Don’t you think! The House of Creed’s commitment has always been developing fragrances using traditional and conventional ways, an ancient method called INFUSION. This method consist in “preparing herbs in which 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried herb or 2 to 4 fresh herbs (flowers and berries are substitutable) is "infused" or placed in oil or water (which does not need to be boiled), and then, after about ten minutes, is strained. Waiting too long before straining results in bitter tasting herbs. The herb/ botanical is then removed from the oil and the oil is used in the many formulas that call for short-term infused oils. The first recorded use of essential oils was in the 10th century by the Persian chemist Avicenna” (INFUSION meaning taken from WIKIPEDIA online) Creed House’s full line of perfumes are a reflection of such commitment even though their method is expensive and lengthy. Creed perfumes are not for those looking for artificially-cheap or altered ingredients, but for those who wants a superior quality perfume.
Here is a list of some of the perfumes The House of Creed has created and whom has worn their wonderful collection. This list has been taken from Wikipedia website and I give full credit to them: "Royal English Leather, commissioned by King George III in 1781 and also worn by his son, King George IVFleurs de Bulgarie, commissioned by QUeen Victoria in 1845 Jasmin Imperatrice Eugénie, for the Empress Eugenie Angélique Encens, for Marlene Dietrich Jasmal, for Natalie Wood Fleurissimo, commissioned for Grace Kelly's marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco on their wedding day, subsequently worn by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Madonna Millésime Impérial, for King Faisal of Saudi Arabia Sélection Verte, for Cary Grant Fleurs de Thé Rose Bulgare, for Ava Gardner Cuir de Russie, for Errol Flynn Vetiver, worn by John F. Dolce Vita perfume, a feminine fragrance by Christian Dior, is a classic sweet oriental fragrance with wood and spicy base notes created by perfumers Pierre Bourdon and Maurice Roger in 1994 and launched in 1995. The beautiful bottle was created by Serge Mansau.

This is a happy, optimistic, warm, soft and spicy fragrance. A beautiful, confident, and elegant scent indeed that is close to perfection, most of the time so underrated. Being a very unique fragrance I would keep it in my wardrobe for any special evening.

Top notes are lily, rose, magnolia and muguet; heart notes of apricot, peach, cinnamon; and base notes of sandalwood, vanilla and heliotrope.

Balenciaga Florabotanica - Perfume Review

8:34:00 PM 0 Comments

Florabotanica Perfume, Balenciaga's second fragrance, aim at a younger audience. It was released in 2012, and created by perfumers Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Herault under the auspice of perfume house Coty.

A beautiful advertising campaign was created for this fragrance, being Kristen Stewart the new face for this beautiful, dangerous, and rare flowery scent. Photos were taken by Steven Meisel.

A scent from the botanical gardens of Balenciaga Paris, Florabotanica infuses modernism and a futuristic vision reflected in the architectural lines and vivid colors presented in the bottle and packaging. Now, lets talk about the juice of the fragrance...the scent notes, of course!

At first, the top notes are citrusy with a hint of greens, but slowly turns into a more herbal-minty that stays for a short time until it settles into a modern blended-floral with main characters being rose and carnation, but in a subtle way, not overpowering. The mild drydown of musk and woods is crisp and mild, It is a clean and light floral-musky-powdery fragrance that is fresh and clean, and that is not as strong as our grandmother's favorite floral perfume. It is definitely a modern, rare, edgy, and 'botanical' pretty floral fragrance...for rose lovers. Some of our customers said it is a romantic fragrance, while others just say it is a bland floral perfume as many others in the market.

I like floral fragrances and I liked Florabotanica, but I don't love it. I love Hypnotic Poison, Cashmere Mist, Coco Mademoiselle, Stella, and Flowerbomb.

not just a pretty flower, but a pretty dangerous flower.” Balenciaga

Carnation, Wild Mint, Turkish Rose Essence, Hemp Leaves, Vetiver Roots, White Amber.

Armani Code Cologne for Men Review

7:12:00 PM 0 Comments

Let's face it! Nowadays men have more perfume choices than ever before.
What used to be a women's accessory has now become a man explosive desire for smelling as good as women... I have found myself wondering why my husband became infatuated with new fragrances, such as Armani Code. The answer was very simple: "I like to smell good and be remembered by it, and this perfume smells great"...Well, to say the least, I did not find myself very disappointed after smelling this fragrance on him. This fragrance is a classic oriental formula, a fragrance that I truly love indeed; a very sophisticated, sexy, and masculine fragrance for an elegant and seductive type of man. It opens with sparkling and fresh citrus lemon notes mixed with a hint of bergamot. It follows notes of olive blossom flowers, anise, and a mixing off tobacco. Also Tonka bean, heliotrope, processed fine leather, and rare woods such as guaiacum wood (a wild South American tree). Let's talk a little about its package. This box is a clear reflection of man's mind: simple and uncomplicated by all means. However, it's not a reflection of what you find inside this bottle. As I have said before, this is a very classic oriental fragrance which reminds me of those tough spy movies my father used to watch when I was a child. It's very probable my father used oriental fragrances at the time. Scents play a great part in our memory. In closing, I must admit my husband has actually found a very good scent. Armani Code is a very complex fragrance that is praised for being subtle, understated, and magnetic. This is a nice fragrance year round and particularly appealing in cooler months.

Parfums de Coeur Body Fantasies Signature review: Cotton Candy, Vanilla, Fresh White Musk

2:42:00 PM 0 Comments

Recently, we did a giveaway on Instagram for Parfums de Coeur Body Fantasies Body Mist in travel size versions. Three winners were chosen randomly and they were very happy.
I started paying attention to the scents behind these attractive little bottles, and decided to write a review about them.
  1. Body Fantasies Fresh White Musk is a mix of soft musk and fresh white florals. I notice some of our customers buy these by the dozen. It is light, fresh, and clean. A woody scent that is not so powdery. Perfect scent for after showers.
  2. Body Fantasies Cotton Candy is a playful and delicious blend of spun sugar and creamy vanilla combined with notes of tender strawberries and clean musk. Is a Floral Fruity Gourmand fragrance for women.
  3. Body Fantasies Twilight Mist is an oriental (mysterious and mesmerizing) fragrance for women. Top notes are Mandarin, Coconut, and Fresh Plum; middle (Heart) notes are Magnolia, Tuberose, Tiger, Orchid, and Violet; base (Dry) notes are Sandalwood, Creamy Musk, Tonka Bean, and Vanilla. I personally love this fragrance since I am more seduced by oriental scents.
  4. Body Fantasies Pink Sweet Pea Fantasy is a mix of florals and sparkling fruits.
  5. Body Fantasies Vanilla is a floral fruity Gourmand fragrance with mix of creamy vanilla, jasmine, fresh apples, and white musk.
  6. Last, but not least...Body Fantasies Japanese Cherry Blossom is a charming fragrance that inspire romance with its blend of warm oriental notes of fresh cherry blossom petals, rose and amber.
If you ask me, my favorites are those with oriental and gourmand notes like Twilight mist and Japanese Cherry Blossom, but as comforting fragrances I would easily use Fresh White Musk and Vanilla.

Which of these Parfums de Coeur Body Fantasies scents are your favorites?

Ciel Perfume, a Heaven Scent by Jacques Saint Press

2:26:00 PM 1 Comments

This perfume was my comfort fragrance for many years, until it was harder to get in local stores. Then, I replaced it with Ombre Rose L'Original, which was the closest scent I could find in the stores. When I opened my Perfume business in 2012 the very first fragrance I wanted to include in my inventory was Ciel. But, why? You might asked. Well, because I loved it, and the scent stayed in my mind for long after disappearing from store shelves.

My favorite season is Autumn, and that was the time when I used to wear this fragrance the most. In fact, I still do, and I use it during spring time as well. This fragrance is comfort in a bottle, and I truly receive many compliments when I wear it. People continually ask me: what is it? What is that soft and beautiful fragrance? I simply answer: It is Ciel, a Heaven scent!

I should say Ciel is an elegant, soft and sweet Oriental powdery fragrance - an all in one fragrance for me. It is just perfect for my skin and personality. I love powdery fragrances with comfy amber and vanilla scents.

If you are not fond of Powdery (dry) fragrances stay away from Ciel. Even though it is not a strong sweet fragrance, but a soft and very unique powdering scent, some people might reject it.

A unique perfume, undeniably. Ciel's nature is caressing, combining the iris relaxing and calming effects with Ispahan rose, to comfort the soul. It's oriental powdery blend contains the mysterious vanilla, an evocative scent that encourages self-confidence, sensuality, positive moods, and soothing dreams. It's classified as a flowery fragrance for blending Aspahan rose and the uplifting and inspiring freesia. All mentioned notes are blended with amber, oak moss and mandarin.

Simple, classic and timeless, Ciel perfume was launched in 1997 by Jacques Saint Pres, and it is still in production. It is recommended for casual wear. Longevity varies from 5 to 7 hours.

9:29:00 PM 0 Comments

This June 19th is Father's Day. Have you started shopping yet? For many of us is one of those days we wish we could know exactly what to buy to all the patriarchal figures in our lives. That day it is simply a shopping nightmare for us ladies! Just admit it! You just get exhausted just to think about the perfect gift for you dad. It shouldn't be that way, right?

Well, if you are like me, and you have come to the conclusion that those wonderful men in your life have more than enough power tools, bathrobes, comfy slippers, beer openers, and ties (and more ties) that they can handle from past Father's Day celebrations, it is time to change to something they'll actually use.

I have picked my favorite men's fragrances, and no matter what personality your dad has, there's a scent out there that's perfect for him, a fragrance that actually defines his character. So here are some fragrances ranging from light to luxe:

5 Fragrances That Smell Like Orchids

9:55:00 PM 0 Comments

How I love those days when our old back yard was full of orchids!
Nowadays, there's nothing that reminds me of those beautiful and fragrant flowers as a good perfume with orchid notes.

My love for those unique flowers started at a young age while I was playing and running outside an old colonial house in South America. You could easily smell the aromatic exotic flowers of Venezuela's Tropical Gardens from the house courtyard, while hanging in the hammocks.

Years pass by and I still recall those days every single time I smell a fragrance which notes include Orchids. I can not help myself but to get a sample-or two- and take them home.

I have tried so many good perfumes with orchids notes that I have lost count. I have make this post to show you the ones I like the most. Two of the fragrances in the list I always keep in my perfume tray -Flowerbomb and Euphoria- together with Coco Mademoiselle and Hypnotic Poison, of course, which I can not go without.

Unfortunately, I can not go back to Venezuela and when I feel nostalgic I simply get my Flowerbomb perfume and I spritz on a little bit and I am instantly taken back to my youth days.
Having fragrances that remind you of places you have been before, or people you have met it is, somehow, therapeutic. Dwelling in the past, however, it is not. I personally use fragrances to help myself soothe and relax from a hard day at work.

What fragrances do remain you of good and positive times?

Here is my collection of fragrances that smell like Orchids:

1. - Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier - A bold and sweet perfume that awakes your feelings. Notes are rose, fresh anis, orange blossom, ginger, vanilla, amber, orchids

2. - Fantasy by Britney Spears - A sensual, fruity and gourmand scent. Notes are litchi, golden quince, kiwi, jasmine, white chocolate, orchids, orris root, musk and woods.

3. - J'Adore by Christian Dior - A modern and feminine fragrance, fresh, sweet and fruity at the same time, which notes are mandarin, jasmine, orchid, rose, amaranth, musk and blackberry.

4. - Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf  - An explosion of fresh flowers and sweet notes: Bergamot, green tea, Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia rose, freesia, Cattleya orchid, Musk, and patchouli.

5. - Euphoria by Calvin klein - An exotic and mysterious floral-fruity fragrance. Notes in this perfume are rose hip, japanese apple, green leaves, lotus, black orchid, red woods, black violet and amber.

Christian Dior and his perfume house

3:19:00 PM 0 Comments

Born in France in 1905, Christian Dior was a fashion designer who became a synonym for luxurious fashion and couture collections after his creation of the 'New Look', voluminous dresses that emphasized woman's curvy body, in 1947. The collection stood out from the simple fashion styles of the World War II era, giving Dior a huge success in the fashion industry all over the world.
Dior started his own fashion empire business after working for or alongside other renowned fashion and perfumers, such as Robert Piguet, Lucien Lelong, and Pierre Balmain. These legends of the mid-twentieth century gave Dior the foundations to manage a fashion house, and succeed in this field as well. Thanks to Christian Dior, Paris re-established itself as the fashion capital of the world.
Because of his huge success in the fashion industry, Dior decided to enter the perfume industry in 1947 with the creation of Miss Dior, named for Catherine, the designer's sister. The second fragrance created by Christian Dior in 1949 was Diorama, followed by Eau Fraiche in 1953 and Diorissimo in 1956, the most costly exported perfume ever.
Parfums Dior is an old perfume house, and nowadays has 183 perfumes in their perfume line created since 1947. The latest perfume by Dior is J'adore Lumiere EDT, as a new edition of his 1999 J'adore fragrance.
Christian Dior died in 1957, but the houses that bear his name still live on. The Dior brand name is known for its luxurious collections, cosmetics and fragrances. At present, Christian Dior is also the main holding company of LVMH, a conglomerate of multi-national luxury goods.
